WHY?
Local insider gems. Taylored programme. Accompanied by a professional sommelier living in the Loire Valley. Authentic brasseries, places with stunning views.
In short: It’s high-quality sparkling wine made in the heart of the Loire Valley, more precisely in the vineyards around the city of Saumure, using the same "traditional method" as Champagne (where the bubbles are created naturally inside each bottle, with a minimum ageing of 12 months).
What makes it unique?
1. The "Chenin" Soul While Champagne relies on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the Loire’s secret weapon is Chenin Blanc. This grape gives Crémant de Loire a distinct "snap"—think aromas of white flowers, honey, and crisp green apples. It’s zesty, floral, and incredibly refreshing.
2. The Tuffeau Terroir The Loire Valley is famous for its Tuffeau—a pale, porous limestone. The vines grow in it, and the wine ages in deep, cool caves carved directly out of it. This stone gives the wine a subtle, chalky minerality that you won't find anywhere else in the world.
3. The "Wilder" Personality Because the Loire is a bit more lush and diverse than the chalky plains of the north, you’ll find a huge range of styles. From bone-dry, citrusy whites to delicate, strawberry-scented rosés made from Cabernet Franc, there is a Crémant for every palate and every plate.
An Underground Adventure into the Soul of Sparkling Wine.
We’ll walk deep into the century-old Tuffeau labyrinths—massive limestone caves carved out to build the city of Saumur. These silent, cool galleries are the world's most perfect natural cellars, where the region's finest Crémant develops its signature silkiness.
The Day’s Highlights:
The Subterranean Secrets: We'll explore the "living stone" where the bubbles are born
Vineyard Horse Carriage: Leave the modern world behind. We’ll climb the sun-drenched vineyard hills by horse-drawn carriage for panoramic views of the Loire River.
The Masterclass: Will taste the region’s pinnacle Crémant samples, connecting the glass to the soil beneath your feet.
Authentic Loire Lunch: A celebration of seasonal French cuisine at a local hideaway, paired perfectly with the valley's best pours.
The beauty of Chateau life: The afternoon can be continued inside the gates of two stunning, privately-owned châteaux. We’ll walk the grand alleys and historic gardens with the air perfumed by the bouquet of seasonal flowers.
This isn't a tour—it’s an all-access pass to the heritage of Saumur.
